Capacity building....Rebuilt
Why 'Rebuilt' you ask?
Because after many years of seeing how nonprofit organizations spend thousands of dollars to increase capacity only to barely move the needle, I understand that most of the current models are flawed. As a nonprofit accountant by orginal trade, with repeated exposure to the big picture, I see how individual efforts of strategic planning, program evaluation, board training, etc....often fail to connect all the pieces and truly create impact.
Sure, the efforts look good from the surface or seem to yield improvement temporarily, but in short order the organization is stymied again, only now with less cash and more frustration.
Recognizing that the term 'capacity building' might have a tarnished reputation, our team brainstormed and group-thought for a spiffy new title. But what we decided is that the term 'Capacity Building' is perfectly appropriate. It's the meaning of the term that needs updating.
Capacity Building requires a multifaceted approach from an integrated team of experienced professionals that work together to improve individual areas of the nonprofit and connect them to increase mission impact organization-wide.
We need to raise the bar of nonprofit performance, accountability, and transparency.
Change is upon us - we can either define it ourselves for the better of the industry or wait until change is forced upon us.
There is no doubt that nonprofits can operate more effectively, efficiently, and impactfully. There is more need now than ever, and demand for nonprofit services will only continue to increase in the future.
The team at Kimberly S. Silva, LLC. (KSS) invites you to join us in the journey to Rebuild Capacity in the nonprofit industry.
